The Beauty of Original Collage Art

Collage is a type of art made by combining various materials, often clippings from newspapers and magazines, to create a unified image. Collage can be used to represent and comment on modern society, as in the work of Frank Moth and Megan Archer, or to depict and reaffirm trends in fashion and design, such as Gretchen Röehrs' "fruit couture" and Rodrigo Pinheiro's Instagram-inspired collages. Collage can also incorporate elements of mass culture and advertising, as in the pop art of David Redon, or create surreal, alternative universes that challenge our perception of reality, like Mahría Diane King's fantastical landscapes. Collage can also be used to celebrate different cultures, such as the street art-influenced work of Mrzyk & Moriceau or the traditional motifs and patterns in the collages of Mat Maitland.
